Albert's Organics Supports Fair Trade
Albert’s Organics is proud to support Fair Trade (see our Fair Trade video below) through selling and promoting organic bananas. We support 3 small grower associations in Ecuador and Peru, that represent hundreds of small banana producers, helping them bring their product to market. These include Cerro Azul in Ecuador, Pronatur in Peru and APPBOSA in Peru – all of whom use Albert’s Organics as their exclusive importer. The grower association’s work to unite these small growers into organizations that bring services and a sense of prosperity to their communities that they could not achieve by working alone. Albert’s is proud to connect these growers with our company and to increase the number of Fair Trade items and cartons that we sell. Our commitment to the Fair Trade Program is a very strong priority at Albert’s. We have made multiple trips to both Ecuador and Peru to meet directly with our banana growers and to visit their farms. We are in constant contact with the producers providing regularly feedback to them, helping them to improve the quality of their operations as they move forward.
Fair Trade certification is a market-based model of international trade that benefits over one million farmers and farm workers in 58 developing countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Fair Trade empowers farmers and farm workers to lift themselves out of poverty by developing the business skills necessary to compete in the global marketplace. By guaranteeing minimum floor prices and social premiums, Fair Trade enables producers to invest in their farms, their communities and to protect the environment.
